Investigating Students’ Attitudes Towards Using Artificial Intelligence in Learning English Students of English at the University of Ghardaia as a case study
    (جامعة غرداية, 2025) Amina, HADJADJ
This research aims to investigate university students’ attitudes towards the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in English language learning. With the rise of new technologies in education, AI is becoming an important part of language learning by offering tools that help students improve their skills in reading, speaking, listening, and writing. This research employed a mixed-method approach to explore student’s perceptions, experiences and challenges in using AI for learning English. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected usingstructured questionnaires distributed to 90 students of English across various academic levels (L1, L2, L3, M1, M2) at the University of Ghardaia, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The results indicated that the majority of sudents’ have a positive view of AI tools and believe that they can support language development and improve their skills. The study’s valuable insights highlighted the need to incorporate technological materials, such as AI tools, into the curriculum. This would allow students to practice and improve not only their core language skills but also other important abilities such as critical thinking and problemsolving. Therefore, educators are encouraged to take advantage of these technologies and integrate them into the classroom as effective teaching materials, bringing the outside world into the learning environment. .

The Role of Visualizing Texts Through Napkin AI Platfrom in Enhancing EFL Learners' Communicative Skills: The Case of 2nd Year LicenceStudentsattheUniversityofGhardaia
    (جامعة غرداية, 2025)
This research has been conducted to investigate the effects of using artificial intelligence-based platform (Napkin AI) on enhancing the oral proficiency of EFL learners. The experiment was carried out, during the academic year 2024–2025, on 56second-year university students at the university of Ghardaia, via applying Napkin AI in teaching speaking skills: through observation and performance rubric, the learners’ oral performance was assessed in this case. The data were collected using a questionnaire, prepared for the purpose of the present study, which assessed the students' perceptions of the use of the platform and its contribution to their oral performance. The survey was divided into four major parts: demographic information, using the Napkin AI platform, words spoken-related problems, observations and comments. Statistical analysis was descriptive and results were accompanied by relative frequencies and explanatory tables. Most students felt that using Napkin AI helped them order their thoughts, build fluency and reduced their speaking anxiety. The learners also explained that the platform's visualization contributed to their expression in English. But there were some drawbacks, including the initial digital training they had to conduct, and finding it hard to use the tool in classes with little time. The research suggests that in oral expression classes, it is better to incorporate intelligent visualization tools like Napkin AI, and it gives students some training beforehand so that it can be used well and integrated.

Investigating EFL Learners’ Writing Performance Using QuillBot and Grammarly: The Case of Third Year Students at the Department of English - Ghardaia University
(جامعة غرداية, 2023) Sara, LAGRAA; Riyane, DAHMANE
Writing academically can be unwelcome and challenging for some learners. Thanks to the contributions of technology, several applications featured by artificial intelligence have emerged to assist students in performing their writing tasks, including Grammarly and QuillBot. For that, this research is conducted to investigate EFL learners’ writing performance using the aforementioned application. It aims to confirm the effectiveness of these applications in enhancing EFL learners’ writing performance. To achieve this aim, a descriptive method with a qualitative approach was employed to analyze the collected data that arose from a questionnaire which targeted forty-six Third Year students and seven teachers, at the English Department of Ghardaia University. The results showed that Third Year students have favorable opinions on using them as guaranteed applications to check mistakes, acquire new vocabulary, and express and organize ideas. Nevertheless, teachers recommend their students to be responsible in dealing with those applications.
