Abstract
This study assesses the management of thermal waters in the municipality of Zelfana (Ghardaia).
A field survey of 26 boreholes determined their location, uses, and wastewater collection methods. Eight
boreholes were analyzed for their physicochemical and bacteriological parameters. The results show
temperatures reaching 40°C, confirming their thermal nature. The analyses reveal a high mineral composition
and occasional exceedances of iron, calcium, and sulfates in some boreholes.
Complying with Algerian and WHO standards. These waters have good bacteriological quality. The irrigation
water from the three boreholes analyzed has high to very high salinity, with a low to medium risk of
alkalinization. These results highlight the need for regular monitoring and sustainable management.
