Abstract
The objective of this study is to identify the socio-economic importance of
market gardening products, to establish a diagnosis of the current situation and to develop
the local vegetable crop in the Ghardaïa region. Surveys were carried out among the farmers,
respectively, distributed through two localities; in this case the palm grove of Beni-Isguen
and the palm grove of Laadira which belongs to the commune of Ghardaïa. The
investigations reveal a wealth of know-how and know-how, with the aim of valorizing local
vegetable products; which have lately experienced an intensive completion by vegetable
products introduced into our food traditions. According to this study, we note a continuity
of the production of the local vegetables in spite of the competition exerted by the strange
products.
